I wanted to share this Happy Tails story, as reading them gives me so much joy.
I adopted my sweet little ginger man from you guys almost two years ago. I had been going through a low point in my life and was seeking companionship. I had always thought of myself as a dog person until a couple of cats changed that for me. Initially, I had thought about fostering, not adopting, but the moment I locked eyes with Cornelius at Pet Value on Midland Avenue, I knew he was meant to be mine.
They say that orange is a whole separate breed of cat, and I could not agree more. Corn has more personality in his little toe beans than most people I have met carry in their whole bodies. The second that I brought him home, he was curious and unafraid, climbing up on my bed and pawing at the butterflies on my wall. The first night, I thought he might hide and sleep under my bed, but when I woke up in the morning, he was sleeping between my legs, as he has done every single night since then.
This cat has genuinely changed my life in so many remarkable ways. He has brought me so much joy, so much calm, and I will love him forever.
Over the past two years, he has celebrated birthdays, travelled to Halifax, moved with us to Toronto, learned to love his leash and outside time, made so many human friends and above all, been so truly and deeply loved.
He has been the most affectionate, sweet boy a girl could ever ask for.
My partner and I are forever grateful to the Kingston Humane Society for bringing our sweet Corn into our lives. Thank you for rescuing him and taking care of him before we met. He is the perfect combination of chaos, curiosity and sweetness. Thank you also to the Midland Pet Value for allowing me to take him home with me that fateful day in August. I am eternally grateful.
Sincerely,
Ash, Aidan & Cornelius.
