Volunteer

The Kingston Humane Society would like to thank the members of the community who have applied to become volunteers and have offered their time to assist the animals in our care. We have received a number of inquiries as to when we will be scheduling orientation sessions. At the present time, the new volunteer coordinator is busy developing a volunteer program that addresses the needs of the animals and the shelter and will be scheduling orientation sessions in the near future. Dates for orientation sessions will be posted on the website. Please check back often.
Step 1: Complete a Volunteer Application Form
Please download and complete our volunteer application. Each person applying for volunteering must complete a separate application. This includes children or minors volunteering with a parent or guardian. Anyone under the age of 18 years must have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian. Children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering. Applications can be emailed, faxed, mailed, or dropped off at our office on Binnington Court. Applications must be received in our office before we can schedule an orientation session for you.

Our Most Popular Volunteer Opportunities.
Adoption Ambassador: Meet potential adopters and help them find the animal of their dreams, and/or follow up for post-adoption feedback.
Animal Care Assistant: Help us provide basic animal care while reducing the stress of life in a shelter. Help with feeding and watering our animals and cleaning cages.
Bake Sale Supplier: Cookies, cupcakes and goodies are needed periodically for local refreshment stand revenues.
Cat Cuddling: Everyone needs a cuddle now and then, and our cats and kittens are no exceptions. Visit our felines and let them know they are loved until that special someone comes to adopt them. Guinea pigs, hamsters and other animals in our care crave interaction and playtime too!
Dog Training Assistant: Interested in dog training? Help train our dogs to increase their adoptability. Contact Christine to discuss your experience, commitment and ability to learn more about dog training.
Dog Walking: The dogs in our shelter need regular exercise and companionship. Consider becoming a dog walker and help our dogs while getting some exercise and unconditional love for youself. *NOTE Dog walkers must be at least 16 years of age and able to lift 40 pounds.
Foster Program: Are you interested in caring for one of our animals temporarily in your home? Click here for more information about our Foster Program.

Pet Detective: Match our lost animal records to our shelter animals and help reunite owners and their pets.
