KHS cats Kelly, Spencer and Mabel did themselves and the shelter proud at the Canadian Cat Association's National Show on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28 at the Portsmouth Harbour.

All three were entered in the Household Pets category, competing agains dozens of other beautiful felines. Kelly took ribbons for 4th and 8th; Spencer won 7th and 9th; and on Sunday, in the very last round, Mabel rallied and took the ribbon for 6th!

Kelly, Spencer and a gorgeous white medium-coated girl named Chanelle all found new families on Saturday. Mabel was adopted Monday by a woman who'd met and fallen in love with this pretty pretty tabby at the show.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers that made it possible for the KHS to show the world some of its beautiful cats. Adoptions, donations, new friends and bragging rights were the results of your long hours, cheerful efforts and dedication to the animals.

Additional thanks must be given to the CCA for inviting the KHS to their show, making us feel so welcome, and giving us a chance to demonstrate the beauty and grace of our cats and in doing so, find a few more homes for the cats in our care.

Signs of victory adorn the cages of Spencer and Kelly on Saturday.

Kelly gets some cuddles from volunteer Amanda.

Folks queue up to get a look at the super shelter kitties! Never a dull moment for our lovely cats.

Kelly took 4th and 8th.

Spencer's 7th place ribbon. He also earned a ribbon for 9th.

Mabel checks out her 6th place booty!

Showing that shelter cats have what it takes (and yes, not missing out on an opportunity to win over the hearts of some serious cat lovers and maybe find themselves a new, doting family), cats from the KHS will be at the Canadian Cat Association's National Show, "Go for the Gold," on Feburary 27th and 28th at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour.

Come visit the cats, maybe one of our showstoppers will be the perfect cat for you, or chat with KHS volunteers about how to get involved with the Society, helping animals, like the cats you'll meet and many more, find new families and a second chance at the good life every pet deserves.

Many thanks to the CCA for providing the KHS a booth at the event free of charge and supporting our efforts to find homes for our animals, until every pet is wanted.
