My name is Max, formerly known as "Clown." I was adopted on a Saturday not too long ago by a couple and their daughter.
When I was at the pet store in my cage, this family came into the back room to play with me. As soon as the door was open, I was out in a flash and crawling all over the little girl. I couldn't stop purring and running around with her. The Mom and Dad sat back and watched us spend time together, so I decided to jump up on Moms lap and give her tons of kisses so she knew I was happy to see her too. Dad picked me up and held me like a baby and started to rub my belly...wow was that ever nice.
Next thing I knew, the family left and I was put back into my cage. I ran to the window and watched as they walked away. I meowed for them to come back, but then they were out of my sight. I was saddened that the little girl was no longer in here with me having a great time. However, not long after they had left, they came back! Next thing I knew, I was getting into a carrier and into a car.
When I arrived at my new home, I was ready to explore. It didn't take me long before I found my favourite place in the house to lay, which is on the landing heading to the upstairs. From there I can relax and grab a nap but also keep an eye on everything that is going on in the living area.
My new family thought it would be a good idea to change my name to something that may better suit our family and that's when "Max" was born. I loved it the first time I heard it! I'm still getting use to it, but it shouldn't take long as everyone says "Max" tons so I learn it fast. I love to play with the little girl. She bought me a toy that's a pole with feathers on the end of it. I chase her around the house for hours having a blast. I think she likes me because she's always laughing and picking me up and giving me hugs. As you can see in our pictures together, I'm very fond of her also. She's very comfortable to stretch out on to take a nap and she giggles when I give her kisses. Even though I have only been in my new home for a couple of days, it couldn't have been a better match.
Thank you Humane Society for taking good care of me until my family took me home.
Update from Max's mom - March 2, 2010:
He is wonderful. Full of energy which is great for our daughter. He is great with everyone. He sleeps right by my side all stretched at night, purrs all the time and gives lots of kisses. We are thrilled to have him, and I think he's happy to be here too...he's a bit spoiled, ha ha. It's hard to believe we've only had him for just over a week cause he's such a big part of the family already.
Heather :)
